PriceSpy has now found their Savvy shopper who knows how to get the best deals. We are excited to announce our Super Saver winner Abbie, who loves to track the price of products to ensure she gets a bargain. To help shoppers she has provided her top tips to save this Black Friday.

Preparation is key

When I shop for my family online, I always make sure I have a game plan. Prepare and have a list of the things you want on Black Friday and check prices now. Then you’ll know if you’re getting a good deal on Black Friday or if you’re better off waiting for another sale. Having a list also stops me from buying random “bargains” that I don’t need.

Don’t go it alone

I use Facebook groups to keep in contact with other savers like me. These groups have given me tips that I wouldn’t have thought of and a great place for spotting latest money-back offers and other time-limited deals. It’s also fun to feel part of a community that has the same goal – spend as little as possible!

Beware “fake” deals

I’ve noticed that around Black Friday, some shops raise prices beforehand just to drop them on the day. Using a price history tool, like the one on PriceSpy, allows you to see for sure. If it’s the case, then the price is most likely going to drop again in the New Year. One year, I bought a PS4 for my son and realised the price had dropped from when I bought it. I took it back and bought it again for the cheaper price – happy mum, happy son!

Never feel pressured to take the first deal you see

This may seem obvious, but we’re all very busy and it’s tempting to go for the first price you see. On Black Friday especially, websites put a lot of effort into pushing you to checkout. It’s always worth shopping around to see if you can get a better price. Price comparison sites are good for this, as are apps for discount codes, such as Honey.

Review everything

A good deal isn’t just about the price you get, but the quality too. Buying a super cheap kettle that will break in a few months is no good for your bank balance or the environment. Make sure you know that that what you’re buying has great reviews. That way you can be sure you’re getting a product that will last and that you’ll enjoy using.
