Ok as headphones (4 stars) but I bought these because of the noise cancelling function (1 star) which is unruly which pulls the grade down considerably. Yes, the headphones are capable of lowering low bass sounds "a little". Previously tried the SONY WH-H900N whose noise cancelling actually works! Firmware update made no difference. Later bought a pair of Bose Quietcomfort 35 II, which difference in noice cancelling!

Took and test these when the Sambon was looking for a pair of affordable noicecanceling headphones. I own a pair of BoseQC25 since earlier and have them as a reference frame. Sound-wise, Sony's good and quite comfortable, but as noise-reducing, they are completely useless. If you use Sony's app to turn on and off the noise reduction, you can actually hear that it starts, but it is not approved! If you are looking for a couple of good travel headphones then I would look elsewhere. Bose25 has several years on the neck, but they have at least 2-3 times as effective noise reduction, there you really hear that the noise disappears, something you hardly do with these.
