Fantastic lens that is worth its 10: a All-round and suitable for many different occasions. Becomes in principle, only overtaken by the new model of the same lens.

Direct blurry compared to the new one - but it costs the double well.

I love this lens. That it is a bit heavy, I think is rather good, it feels solid and professional (and I compare with my 70-200 f / 2,8 L, it feels pretty easy). It is such a beautiful print in color and contrast to astonishment. This is the perfect lens to leave on the camera so you are always ready. For me it's the ultimate "walk-around ice cream." Expensive, but worth every penny.

hit good, real good sharpness from 2.8 gets a little better if the aperture up but there is no much difference. Slightly heavy, one can think. But it's no barrier, there is nothing negative with this lens, I choose this over the 24-105 all times.

One of Canon's workhorse, this lens can be found in every serious photographer's bag. Both semi-pro and pro. Unfortunately suffers 24-70 of variations between different specimens. Uneven quality or just "miss match in heaven" between lens and camera? Well. Who knows. For me, sitting 24-70 on my 7D as standard. It gives me quite okay images across the entire zoom range and is also acceptably crisp even at aperture 2.8. At low f-number optics gives a very beautiful bokeh and the object in the foreground becomes contrasts with fine renditions of colors. L-glass gives fine flares when shooting at night and backlit photography daytime does not make many disappointed. Build quality is top of the line, as usual, Canon L-grade lenses. But, I have presonligen always have something against lenses where the optics "go out" from the enclosure. The lens hood (which is normal for me always sit on), however, protects the optic zoom. I miss the IS. Sure, it makes you always if you do not have it. Canon, building a mark II! :) Is IS a must, you should buy a 24-105 f/4L IS instead? YES! If you do not feel you need 2.8!

This is probably the zoom lenses in Canon's Luxury series that I am at least impressed. Do not misunderstand me - it is an objective of high class with an appropriate range, wide vinvinkel (in full shape launcher), really good build quality, weather sealing, comfortable controls, excellent focusing distance, good brightness and a fast, quiet autofocus! What is weighing down this lens is instead its varied acuity over zoomomgånget. Not only between different specimens, but also within the same specimen varies sharpness. I have access to micro-adjust the autofocus on my 5D Mark II, and have found that this lens is in need of about -10 in wide-angle mode and +4 in the telephoto position, and somewhere in the middle of this at focal lengths between the end positions. This is obviously not possible to solve with today's cameras, so you have to compromise and set an average value which is far from optimal. It is certainly not uncommon for zoom lenses suffer from this variability, but on a lens in this price range, I had actually expected more. Somewhat surprisingly, its predecessor, the 28-70L, much smoother and better sharpness across omgånget. Hope that Canon will be more successful successor ...

Best all round loophole that can be purchased to Canon. is 90% of the time. Clearly every penny to spend the money on an L-aperture. That it does not have the IS feels unimportant according to me

Buy me! :) Best all round loophole to full sensor. Do not drive fixed optics or need IS, then this is the choice. Have just heard somewhere that Canon will release an IS version of this in 2010. Maybe just a rumor ...

A fantastic lens. Use it all the time. Minus - heavily. Another minus - I have to buy a better camera than a eos 350d that makes the lens more justice ...
