Can not give more than full pot. Very sharp and perfect for both macro, animal portraits and people. It would be heavy is held, I do not at all agree. But I'm in and of itself used to heavier lenses Tamron 150-600mm and Nikon 24-70mm. Only minus the lens is weather sealed. Think it should be there in this price range.
Also has Nikon 40mm Micro DX and it was hard to get close to such insects without scaring them away. Nikon 105mm is a much better focal length for me.
Use it as much for landscape and macro photography.
Fairly fast autofocus, good with image stabilization in a dark environment (slow shutter speeds) and it feels solid in the hand.
Will the terrible great pictures with this.
Absolutely incredible clarity! Have had it for about 3 months now and the best part is that you look around the garden in a whole new way (= crawling around on your knees ;-). The most expensive team but you get something for your money. Big plus for the internal focus, it is fine to take photographs in the garden pond - newt eyes using Polfilter. Clean the microscope. Very nice portrait lens also due to the rather long focal length for a macro. Glad I bought this and not the Nikon 85/3.5. VR is a great advantage because you often need to stop down quite considerably if you want a little depth of field and thus get a little too slow shutter speeds. The only drawbacks are the price and that it is quite large and heavy. Even so incredibly happy. Have begun to build up a nice collection of images on small plants, lizards, insects and humans. This is the favorite lens No. 1 in the collection!
A really good macro lens with peak sharpness.
The lens also has VR which can facilitate in certain situations.
The lens has internal focus which I think is good then the front lens does not go out and scare off any. timid insects.
It is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for!
