Online shopping became a national pastime during COVID-19 lockdowns. Heading into Black Friday week, our new report reveals how this shift in attitude is affecting spending this year.

More than a third of Brits (35%) plans to shop on Black Friday. On average, they intend to spend £736.

How shoppers will shop

This Black Friday, 67% of shoppers will be making their purchases online, although a number will be mixing it up with instore and online buying. With the majority of shops remaining closed, it seems the public is ready to embrace Black Friday from their sofas.

What will shoppers be spending their money on?

The average amount shoppers are expecting to spend on the day this year is a lofty £736.62. Our research has shown that millennials – those aged between 25-34 years – are by far the most likely to shop the sales. When it comes to what they’re looking for, gadgets, electronics and fashion all make the top list.

Brits overall feel fairly comfortable visiting physical stores during Black Friday, despite the COVID-19 risk.
