Been a customer at Scan since my first order placed September 2007, and placed 16+ orders with them of varying quantity mostly PC hardware for self builds (Cases, Hard Drives, RAM, CPU's, PSU's & more), never had any problems with any items.
Ordered a new motherboard from Scan which was delivered the day after next by DPD, all dealt with via their website.Very easy to deal with from start to finish and the motherboard was well protected and delivered as promised, recommended.
I've used Scan for over a decade. Though recently their prices have not been the best (especially compared to Amazon), their customer service is simply amazing. I'd rate them up with Amazon in terms of quality there.
Have ordered a number of things over the years and they have always arrived quickly and in perfect order. I obviously can't vouch for how good they are when things don't work (as will always occasionally be the case with electronic goods) - hopefully I'll never have to find out.
Disappointing is an understatement. Ordered several drives and they arrived in generic packaging that almost looked like egg-boxes with no seal of guarantee and the connectors looked like they had already been used! And who knows for how long for and by whom!
Furthermore, the Hitachi drives I ordered came with a Scan serial number NOT a Hitachi serial number for warranty purposes. If you enter the Hitachi serial number on the drives into the Hitachi website they absolve themselves of any warranty for the drives sold by Scan.
Essentially, you'd be at the mercy of Scan without a 5 year warranty from Hitachi. Looks like they are selling used drives at retail prices with an in house warranty. DODGY, VERY DODGY!
- Reasonable prices, often the lowest on various items
- Good service, items delivered quickly and come well packaged
- Good selection for most types of components
- No free delivery option, although this isn't really an issue if you're buying a lot of components or expensive components
- Certain component types have a limited selection of brands (e.g. they basically only sell corsair memory)
