The history of film and TV is full of cool sunglasses. Not infrequently, it’s the characters' hallmark: think the Elwood brothers in Blues Brothers, Tony Montana in Scarface or the Terminator in the film of the same name. But we’ve been looking for sunglasses in more recent productions - check out our top ten list!
#1
Beth Harmon,
The Queen's Gambit
The orphan Elisabeth Harmon, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, is making a career as a chess player in the hit series The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix. Her success is possibly only surpassed by her stylish outfits where the sunglasses play an obvious role. Do as Beth does and hide your searching gaze behind a pair of dark sunglasses.

#2
James Bond,
No Time To Die
Daniel Craig always wears cool sunglasses when he plays James Bond. In the latest film, Agent 007 wears four different models, three of which can be seen in this trailer. In our list, you’ll find some sunglasses similar to the ones that Craig wears in the new No Time To Die, also a couple of budget options. It shouldn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to look good.

Princess Margaret,
The Crown
In the third season of the royal drama series, The Crown, on Netflix, it’s now the late 70s. Princess Margaret, played by Helena Bonham-Carter, continues to look at people over the edge of her sunglasses, now in ever larger models. Sip leisurely on your afternoon tea and sit down with a gossip magazine in the spring sun.

#4
Miguel Diaz,
Cobra Kai
When the hype surrounding the original films was at its greatest, there was actually a series of Karate Kid sunglasses from Foster Grant - which today cost a considerable amount of money. In the series Cobra Kai, originally on Youtube Red but now on Netflix, arch-rivals Daniel and Johnny have become middle-aged and a little less cool. But Johnny's disciple Miguel Diaz has taken over the baton now, played by Xolo Maridueña. See you in the dojo!
#5
Maxine Mayfield,
Stranger Things
The skater girl Maxine "Max" Mayfield, played by the brilliant Sadie Sink, rolled into Stranger Things' second season. Maxine is always colourful and street smart in full-on 80s fashion, preferably with matching sunglasses. Chew on some gum, put on your portable cassette player and meet the spring sun in all the colours of the rainbow.
#6
John Dutton,
Yellowstone
Rumour has it that Paramount Network is releasing the fourth season of Yellowstone in June, hooray! The head of the family, John Dutton, well played by Kevin Costner, is hard as nails (though also a little soft) in a Stetson hat and sunglasses. For everyone who likes mafia cowboys, this is your fashion statement.
#7
Grace Fraser,
The Undoing
In the star-studded series The Undoing on HBO, Nicole Kidman plays a wealthy and privileged therapist with a suspicious husband. Stylish coats are the character Grace Fraser's signature - but she also has nice sunglasses. Here are some look-alikes!
Who do you need to secretly watch?
#8
Kuiil,
The Mandalorian
The moisture farmer Kuiil wears extremely stylish goggles-style sunglasses in The Mandalorian at Disney +. If you like the slightly rough and tough look with steam punk vibes, Kuuli is your style guru. I have spoken.
#9
Michael Jordan,
The Last Dance
The documentary series about basketball legend Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls on Netflix is a 90s fashion cavalcade. Here you can revel in sporty sunglasses, especially models from Jordan's favourite brand Oakley - his club-mate Dennis Rodman rocks them too. The coloured mirror glasses are super hot, right?
#10
Pete Mitchell,
Top Gun: Maverick
Okay, we couldn’t avoid it. Many of us looked forward to this sequel last year, but hopefully we’ve been waiting for something good when the delayed premiere takes place on 2 July this year. There are probably few film characters we associate so strongly with a pair of pilot sunglasses as Pete Mitchell, better known as Maverick. Tom Cruise wore a pair of Aviator Classic from Ray-Ban on the film poster from 1986, but here we have listed some other options as well.
