For the price it has no equal. With less than 200 € they bring home 6 cores that arrive at 12 threads with simultaneous multithreading and 100% load runs at 3.4GHz (3.6GHz if the load is low). With apps such as BOINC and Folding @ Home, they make an irreplaceable contribution to tumor research, as you can use many cores at the same time at a full high frequency. You can also make some overclock as the entire Ryzen series supports it natively.
In short, AMD has been furious this year.

Best bang for buck in 2017.
For Photoshop and Lightroom it's not as fast as i7 7700k yet. But I believe few months later with the new update we will see that Adobe suite can use all the cores. Premier pro now can use all the cores and out perform 7700k. With stock CPU cooler, you will be easily over clock to 3.9gHz and get 20% performance. The wraith cooler that comes with ryzen 1600 is quite and far better stock cooler than Intel's. Highly recommended for photo and video editing.

    Great CPU
12 threads $350 its the first shift in mid range cpus since 2008 since then it has been all quad core.

Over clocks nice on budget boards (Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 $180) 3.8ghz which Intel can't unless you purchase an expensive Z board.

Really smooth in games feals very responsive compared to my i5 4690k running at 4.4ghz seems too glitch less as well.
