I had no great expectations when I got the God of War when I didn't play the previous releases in the series. I thought it would be a button-bashing hack-n-slash without any major depth but oh so wrong I had. The game has it all. It is beautiful, definitely the best looking game on PS4 so far AND it's often run 50-60fps with one at FOV, something that is very important to me in 3rd person games. It has a lot of customization with your skills and weapons / armor. The variety of the enemies is also very good, you never tire of fighting with them. The story is quite OK, nothing special but interesting enough. The game time is very long for this type of game. I drove the hardest (+ did a lot of side quests) and it took me probably 50-60 hours before I was done.
If you play the most difficult with all kind of help off then you also get a game that reminds a lot about how games used to be for a past 20-25 years, ie. challenging! Something very rare these days.
Long story short, the game is almost perfect. On a scale of 1-10, it must get a 10. On a scale of 1-100, I would give it a 96.
Red Dead Redemption is a very good game, no snack, but God of War easily wins Game of the Year 2018 and Game of the Generation (PS4).
