What is Slow Shopping?
At PriceSpy we wanted to help remind people that it’s a good thing to slow your shopping down.
At PriceSpy we wanted to help remind people that it’s a good thing to slow your shopping down. Think about what products you would like to buy and make sure you are getting them at the best possible cost. PriceSpy is here to help you save during Black Friday & Christmas. Slowing down your Shopping can help decrease the risk of bad bargains and it can lead to a more sustainable way of life.
So, we launched Slow Shopping. An initiative to help lower stress levels and create the right conditions for well-balanced shopping decisions.
By using our Super Savers & a retail expert we would like to make sure the UK gets the best possible guidance. We are working with our four Super Savers Jonathan, Emma, Hannah & Laura to provide the best possible tips to save and shop smarter during Black Friday. We have also partnered with Cathrine Jansson-Boyd, to help UK shoppers to think about their shopping habits and how to make the most of slowing down with their shopping. Our final partnership is with Emily, who has created relaxing yoga sessions to help focus on your mind and body. To see all of our Slow Shopping articles and yoga videos view our Articles page or PriceSpy Social media platforms!
This year, we want our customers, and all of those bargain hunters out there, to take a step back. To breathe. To pause for a moment to reflect on what they're buying and why. To slow down and enjoy the ride. So before flashing the plastic, take a look at our top tips for the season:
- Plan out your purchases ahead of the day itself and use the opportunity to be strategic about your buying. Avoid being lulled into last-minute deals, just because they seem cheap
- Do your research ahead of time. Black Friday offers some true bargains, but it isn't always the cheapest time to buy. Use our site to look at historic pricing data ahead at time, to be sure you're not the victim of an upwards trend
- Check out as many platforms as possible. We pride ourselves on offering a true and transparent comparison, but other people have bargains too. Shop around until you're happy you have the best price
- Take some time out. It's no exaggeration to say Black Friday can be stressful. When you find yourself getting wound up, go for a walk or make a cup of tea. You may find that deal is slightly less shiny once the heat of the moment has passed
- Remember the deals season is more than just one day. While Black Friday can be the perfect time to pick up early Christmas presents, you'll see deals across the month, not to mention well into the New Year. Treat it as a marathon, not a sprint.

As we limber up for Black Friday 2021, it is my duty as a Super Saver to balance the excitement with some caution. Remember, Black Friday gives customers the opportunity to make great savings. It doesn’t guarantee them. I’ve put together a list of common mistakes to avoid on your quest for deals. Read up, get prepped, and shop smart!
How to get the best deals before Black Friday
